Snack Review: Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain Fruit & Nut Bars
I’m usually not a big fan of anything with fruits and nuts in it, but I thought I’d give these Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain Fruit & Nut bars a try since I don’t seem to be that healthy of an eater.
These come in two different flavors - Berry & Almond and Cranberry, Raisin & Peanut.
At first, I thought this bar would be hard and probably crack one of my teeth when I bit into it. But that was not the case because it is a soft, flexible bar. I say flexible because I always have fun bending the bars back and forth while they are still in their package.
I first tried the Berry & Almond bar because it looked slightly more appealing to me than the other. (Remember, I dislike fruit and nuts.) When I opened it, the bar was so soft it started bending on its own and almost fell apart. The bar is actually fun to look at: it’s covered in what look like cranberries, oats, crispy rice, bran cereal and almonds.
When I first tasted it, I could mostly taste the cranberries and not much else. It’s actually pretty sweet tasting and not overpowering at all. Even with the almond mixed in, the taste of cranberries dominated over the rest of the bar. It had a soft texture and was easy to chew. Very tasty.
Next I tried the Cranberry, Raisin & Peanut bar. This bar looked almost exactly like the other, but with hardly any cranberries at all. There were mostly raisins throughout the bar. It still had the oats, crispy rice and bran cereal like the other.
When I tasted it, I could definitely tell there were salted peanuts in it. They kind of drowned out the sweetness of the bar and made it a little crunchy. This bar was soft like the other one, but required more chewing on my part, probably to break down the peanuts inside.
If I had to pick one, I’d say I liked the Berry & Almond bar a lot better. Both bars reminded me of those dried fruit trail mixes. It was like they condensed it and put it into bar form.

Has anyone seen the Nutri Grain fruit and nut bars recently in Florida supermarkets?
I cannot locate any.
